Nothing beats a quick weekend getaway and in Southern California the possibilities are endless. Last weekend I ventured south of the border with Club Tengo Hambre. Antonio and Kristin were the perfect guides. They greeted us with big smiles and a big bottle of tequila. It may or may not have been noon yet.

Our first stop won my heart, the fisherman's village of Popotla. A long dirt road lined with cars was the only clue this was a popular destination among the locals. The road ended at a small ocean village which was bustling with activity. Fishing boat after fishing boat landed on the beach delivering their fresh catch of the day. The scales were flying as fishmongers cleaned the catch. We feasted on uni, spider crabs, chocolate clams, fried fish and shrimp. Washing it all down with an icy cold Pacifico. I do believe this hidden gem is one of Baja's best kept secrets. Hey, who told Anthony Bourdain?
